Firemen rescue two children trapped in PJ apartment blaze
The victims were found semi-conscious inside a room in the unit.

PETALING JAYA – Two children were rescued by firemen during a firefighting operation at a four-storey apartment along Jalan 1 Emas, Taman Megah Emas here on Saturday.
In the incident at about 10.37am, both victims, believed to be aged between four and six, were found semi-conscious inside a room in the unit.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the department received an emergency call on the incident at 10.37am.
A team from the Damansara Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Petaling Jaya station, was dispatched to the scene.
“The fire engine arrived at the location at about 10.46am and found that the fire involved a four-storey apartment unit on the third floor.
“The 600 sq ft unit was about 50 per cent burnt, mainly in the living room area,” he said in a statement on Saturday.
He added that while the firefighting operation was underway, the team discovered the two children — a boy and a girl — inside a room in a semi-conscious state.
“Firemen managed to bring both victims out before they were given initial treatment by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team.
“They were later taken to a hospital for further treatment using an EMRS vehicle,” he said.
Mukhlis said the operation involved 13 personnel with fire engines from the Damansara and Petaling Jaya fire stations.
“The fire was brought under control at 10.54am and overhaul works are being carried out to ensure there are no remaining hotspots that could reignite the blaze,” he said.
