SHAH ALAM – The festive spirit has officially touched down in the heart of Selangor as Central i-City Shopping Centre kicks off its highly anticipated “Gaya Raya 2026” campaign.

Running from now until April 5, the mall has transformed into a vibrant hub of cultural heritage, community spirit and high-energy shopping.

The campaign was officially launched by MBSA councillor Nur Yusmi binti Mohd Yusof, representing Selangor EXCO member and Kota Anggerik assemblyman Mohd Najwan Hamidi, alongside Central i-City’s Head of Marketing, Alfred Chua.

EVs Meet 'Balik Kampung' Nostalgia

This year’s theme takes a creative leap by blending evolving Malaysian lifestyles with traditional roots. In a unique collaboration, the mall teamed up with Ipoh-born UiTM graduate and doodle artist Wan Jepah to design the campaign’s visual identity.

The artwork features a modern family cruising in an electric vehicle (EV) toward Central i-City, set against a classic kampung backdrop where families are seen stirring lemang and preparing festive feasts. It’s a nod to the future of Malaysia while keeping the "soul" of Raya intact.

A Marketplace of Local Gems

For those looking to settle their Raya outfits early, the Mega Raya Bazaar is the place to be. With over 80 local brands participating, the initiative aims to provide a massive platform for homegrown entrepreneurs.

“This initiative supports local businesses while offering our visitors a one-stop destination for everything from traditional Baju Melayu to modern accessories and festive delicacies,” said Alfred Chua.

In addition to the main bazaar, a dedicated Ramadan Bazaar is currently serving up local street food and breaking-fast favourites daily until March 17.

Community First: Sharing the Blessings

Beyond the glitz and glamour, Central i-City is ensuring the season remains meaningful for the underserved. As part of their CSR efforts:

It was a day of pampering for the underprivileged students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Subang, where they enjoyed a day of shopping for new outfits, complimentary haircuts and a warm buka puasa session.

In collaboration with MBSA councillor Mandy Ooi, 25 selected students from the Shah Alam area were invited to pick out their Raya clothes and shoes.

Mall staff have also been busy distributing the traditional spiced porridge to the public, fostering a spirit of togetherness.
