No medicine supply issues for private hospitals despite Middle East war
The association said the pharmaceutical supply chain in Malaysia has shown no signs of being directly affected by the conflict so far.
PETALING JAYA - Private hospitals in the country are not experiencing any disruptions in the supply of medications despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, according to the Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM).
In a statement, the association said the pharmaceutical supply chain in Malaysia has shown no signs of being directly affected by the conflict so far.
"We will keep reviewing for any indications of a significant increase in the cost of medicines and medical consumables that may arise as a result of higher oil prices or global shipping disruptions from the conflict," it said on Wednesday (March 25).
APHM assured Malaysians that all essential healthcare services at private hospitals remain fully operational.
It added that many private hospitals have adopted green technologies over the past several years, making energy conservation an established priority across the sector.
"Private hospitals also remain committed to prudent cost management, with a continued focus on delivering the best possible care to Malaysian patients and foreign medical tourists," the statement said.
APHM said it will continue to closely monitor developments regarding any potential impacts on medical supplies resulting from the Middle East conflict.
The association added it would engage with relevant stakeholders where appropriate to ensure the continuity of care and experience for patients. - THE STAR
