SHAH ALAM – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that work-from-home (WFH) arrangements will be implemented for civil servants on a gradual and selective basis as part of broader strategic measures.
He emphasised that the government is currently considering several more flexible working regulations to adapt to current challenges.
"Other steps being considered include the decision to set more flexible work rules such as working from home. Civil servants will be able to work from home on a gradual and selective basis (secara berperingkat dan terpilih)," he said in his strategic energy crisis measures speech this evening.
Anwar also extended this call to the corporate world, urging private firms to emulate the flexible models already adopted by leading financial institutions.
"I believe, Insya-Allah, apart from the public sector, we also urge the private sector to implement [WFH] as has been practiced by several companies and banks all this while," he said.
Despite the "depression" currently affecting the global landscape due to ongoing conflicts, the Prime Minister noted that Malaysia continues to be a primary destination for active investment.
He assured that the government remains vigilant in its fiscal management to sustain this "extraordinary" growth.
"On the part of the Government, Insya-Allah we will continue to maintain discipline, avoid wastefulness and leakages and ensure that Malaysia's economic growth momentum remains somewhat extraordinary and exceptional.
"After seeing the depression occurring in the world, we see that Malaysia still gains attraction, becoming a very active center of investment attraction... even after this crisis and war, many are still coming," he added.
He also called for a collective effort from all Malaysians to turn global challenges into opportunities for improvement.
"So let us pray that this country remains peaceful, let the people in both the public and private sectors work diligently and earnestly and let us increase our economic capacity.
"In every trial and challenge from Allah SWT and the situations occurring in the world, there is still an opportunity to improve and increase our capabilities," he concluded.
