KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) president and chair of the Board of Directors, Zou Jiayi, have discussed a sustainable development agenda covering the transition to green energy as well as the empowerment of digital infrastructure and advanced technology.

"I emphasised the government's priorities as outlined in the National Energy Transition Roadmap and the 13th Malaysia Plan, which, among other things, focus on the empowerment of renewable energy, energy efficiency improvements, and the development of a competitive and inclusive digital ecosystem," he said in a social media post.

Anwar, who is also the Minister of Finance, said he received Zou's courtesy visit on Thursday.

He said that in terms of private investment and regional economic integration, he welcomed AIIB's commitment to continue strengthening its role in boosting strategic investments in Malaysia, particularly in high-value and high-impact sectors.

"The government will continue to ensure that the country's investment ecosystem remains conducive, competitive, and integrity-driven, while strengthening the domestic economic foundation so that Malaysia remains stable, strong, and resilient in the face of current geopolitical challenges and uncertainties," said Anwar.

AIIB, headquartered in Beijing, China, is a multilateral development bank whose mission is to finance future infrastructure in Asia and beyond, with sustainability at its core.

It began operations in 2016 and has since grown to have 111 approved members worldwide. - BERNAMA
