KLANG - A housewife was left shaken after discovering a newborn baby boy abandoned on a chair outside her home in Kampung Rantau Panjang on Wednesday, in an incident that has drawn widespread attention online.

The infant, believed to have been recently born, was found with the umbilical cord still attached, covered in blood and surrounded by ants and flies. The baby had been wrapped in a cloth diaper and placed on a towel along with a piece of clothing, with no note left behind.

“Oh Allah, this baby is so beautiful, why did your parents abandon you, little one,” the woman said upon seeing the infant.

The woman, who wished to be known as Jue, 35, said the discovery was made at about 10.45am when her second child, aged 12, opened the front door to throw away rubbish.

“At around 9.30am, my husband left for work. At that time, nothing unusual happened. Coincidentally, all of my children did not go to school because they had sore throats and fever. We were all unwell.

“My second child opened the door to throw rubbish, then said, ‘Mum, there is a baby on the chair.’ I was shocked and could not believe it. At first, I thought it was a doll because the baby was not moving. I later realised the infant was real when the baby began crying after being touched.

“At that moment, I panicked and did not know what to say. Fortunately, a neighbour called the clinic, while I contacted my husband and he then contacted the police station. The nurse advised us not to touch anything, so we did not dare to touch the baby. I was deeply moved seeing the baby’s condition,” she said when met at her home on Thursday.

Jue added that police officers and medical personnel later arrived to take the baby for further care. Visibly emotional, she said the incident left her deeply affected.

“In any case, this incident is truly distressing. I have lived here for six years. This is the first time I have faced such an incident,” she said.

North Klang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner S Vijaya Rao confirmed the incident and said an official statement would be issued soon.

Earlier, the case gained attention after a social media post about the abandoned baby outside a house in Kampung Rantau Panjang went viral.
