SHAH ALAM - A crackdown by the Selangor Immigration Department has uncovered alleged prostitution activities operating behind the facade of massage centres in Bukit Rimau, following a targeted enforcement operation on Thursday night.

The operation, codenamed Op Gegar, began at 8pm and focused on premises believed to be offering services arranged through social media platforms. Investigations revealed that customers were sent images of female masseuses via WhatsApp and Telegram before making their selections.

The centres reportedly offered massage services starting from RM40, with additional sexual services costing up to RM200 and were said to operate until the early hours of the morning.

All detainees were held at the Semenyih Immigration Depot for further action.

One Vietnamese masseuse, who claimed the job was her first since arriving in Malaysia a year ago, insisted she was unaware of the nature of the services being considered unlawful.

“I only do massage. I usually earn between RM50 and RM100 a day. I did not know that this kind of massage (sexual) is illegal here,” she said.

Authorities confirmed that 11 foreign women were detained during the raid, involving nationals from Myanmar, Thailand, China and Vietnam.

Selangor Immigration Director Khairrul Aminus Kamaruddin said enforcement officers identified multiple immigration-related offences.

“Among the offences detected were not having valid identification documents and overstaying,” he said.

All detainees have since been held at the Semenyih Immigration Depot for further investigation under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.

He added that enforcement efforts will continue to be strengthened to address prostitution-related activities and the misuse of social visit passes.
