SHAH ALAM - Road users travelling to Genting Highlands are now required to pay toll or road access charges of between RM3.30 and RM25 following the implementation of a new fee collection system by road operator Lingkaran Cekap Sdn Bhd (LCSB) beginning today.

The charges are being introduced in two phases and will apply to all permitted road users except several exempted categories.

In a statement, LCSB said fee collection would take place at two entry points — the Genting Highlands entrance at Genting Sempah and the Gohtong Jaya entrance at the Gohtong Jaya roundabout.

“For Class 1 vehicles, namely cars and vans, the charge imposed is RM5 for each entry, while Class 2 vehicles, namely medium lorries, will be charged RM15.

“Class 3 heavy lorries will be charged RM25, Class 4 vehicles (taxis) RM3.30 and Class 5 vehicles (buses) RM5,” the statement said.

According to LCSB, Class 2, 3, 4 and 5 vehicles must enter using the ‘Special Lane’ or the Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) system.

Motorcycles and emergency vehicles are exempted from the charges and do not require registration.

The company also announced exemptions for privately owned vehicles belonging to civil servants serving at selected government institutions in Genting Highlands, provided the vehicles are registered and use the LPR or Special Lane.

“The institutions involved include Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sri Layang, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sri Layang and Institut Aminuddin Baki, Genting Highlands Police Station, Gohtong Jaya Police Station and the Genting Highlands Fire and Rescue Station,” it said.

LCSB added that the exemption also covers Klinik Desa Sri Layang, the Genting Highlands Sub-District Office, the Bentong District and Land Office, the Bentong Municipal Council Branch Office (Genting Highlands Branch) and the Pahang State Secretary’s Office (Genting Highlands Branch).

The company further announced that beginning June 28, eligible permanent residents of Genting Highlands may register up to two Class 1 vehicles under a priority rate or seasonal pass scheme.

“Registered permanent residents under the priority rate scheme will enjoy rates that are 10 per cent lower than normal rates for each entry using the LPR lane or Special Lane.

“Exemptions and priority rates will be reviewed periodically to ensure continued suitability and reflect operational or policy changes,” the company said.

Members of the public can obtain more information on vehicle categories, registration procedures and seasonal pass schemes through the official LCSB website.
