RAMGARH - Two brothers died after their family reportedly sought mystical treatment for their high fever before their condition deteriorated and they were rushed to hospital.

India Today reported that the two victims, aged 15 and 10, developed fever along with their mother, about three to four days ago.

However, the family reportedly believed the illness was caused by supernatural forces and sought the services of a tantrik ritual practitioner to perform ceremonies and recite mantras at their home.

The treatment was reportedly carried out over three days, but the condition of all three continued to deteriorate.

When the two brothers lost consciousness, the family rushed them to Sadar Hospital Ramgarh, where doctors confirmed both had died.

Meanwhile, their mother's condition was also critical and she was referred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for further treatment.

The actual cause of the illness that struck all three family members has yet to be identified.

Following the incident, Patratu block development officer Manoj Gupta visited the village and met the victims' family.

He assured the family of assistance and said efforts would be made to provide compensation in accordance with government regulations.

Meanwhile, a team from the Public Health Engineering Department also collected water samples from a nearby hand pump after the three family members fell ill around the same time.

The samples will be examined to determine whether water contamination or an infection was linked to the incident.
