Zahid's speech was 'very convincing', says Nik Abduh at Umno assembly
"Very convincing to us that Muslim unity will succeed and we are preparing to go to Putrajaya."
KUALA LUMPUR – It did not take long for Pas central committee member Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz to find himself surrounded by journalists after making a rare appearance at the 2026 Umno General Assembly today.
The former Bachok member of parliament, who has kept a relatively low profile from the media, said Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's speech was "very convincing", particularly on efforts to unite Muslims.
"On Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi's speech earlier, it was convincing, very convincing to us that Muslim unity will succeed and we are preparing to go to Putrajaya," he said.
Nik Abduh also described Pas' presence at the Umno assembly as a reciprocal gesture following Umno leaders' attendance at the Pas muktamar.
"Just as we appreciated Umno's presence at our muktamar, we are confident that Umno is also happy that we are here," he said.
