Abdul Azeez’s son grateful for Umno support amid father's legal proceedings
Khairul said he and his family respected the rule of law and would allow the relevant legal processes to take their course.

KUALA LUMPUR - The son of former Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, Mohamed Khairul Azman Abdul Azeez, expressed gratitude for the support shown by Umno members and delegates towards him and his family amid the legal proceedings involving his father.
Khairul said he and his family respected the rule of law and would allow the relevant legal processes to take their course.
“I am deeply grateful for the support, especially from our Umno family. I believe we understand what is happening and whatever the situation may be, we respect the rule of law and will allow the proper processes to take place.
“We will follow due process and I ask everyone to pray that everything goes well,” he told Sinar Daily.

He was responding to a question on how Umno and its delegates had treated him and his family during the 2026 Umno General Assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
His remarks came amid legal proceedings involving Abdul Azeez, who pleaded not guilty at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Sept 9, to allegedly abusing his position in 2014 to secure the chairmanship of Putrajaya Perdana Berhad.
The position allegedly came with an annual salary of RM690,000, a luxury vehicle and a permanent driver.
Abdul Azeez was also accused of influencing the TH board to approve a RM193.5 million investment in the company. The charge was brought under Section 23(1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009. He was granted RM450,000 bail.

He was also alleged to have committed fraud involving the pilgrim fund's hibah payments. However, the Magistrates’ Court rejected a request to extend his remand on Sept 10, resulting in his release that afternoon.
On Sept 12, Abdul Azeez’s lawyer, Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad, clarified that the RM193.5 million mentioned in the charge referred to the value of the investment approved by TH’s board and not money allegedly misappropriated by Abdul Azeez or his family.
Abdul Azeez’s legal proceedings remain ongoing.
