KUALA PILAH – Negeri Sembilan police have stepped up security measures across the state following the latest developments in the ongoing royal institution crisis.

Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad urged all parties to remain patient and allow the relevant authorities to resolve the matter through the legal process.

“Police are responsible for maintaining public order. Given the current situation, we are paying closer attention to security across all areas.

“We are monitoring the developments closely and hope the public will remain patient while the matter is resolved in accordance with Malaysian law,” he told reporters after Friday prayers at the Tuanku Munawir Royal Mosque here.

Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, arrived at the mosque earlier for Friday prayers, accompanied by his two sons, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz and Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin Tuanku Muhriz.

Tuanku Muhriz and his sons later presented contributions to children, a customary practice observed by the ruler.

Alzafny said police would provide an update in due course on the report lodged by Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim over his allegation that he was forced to sign the proclamation.
