SHAH ALAM – Pas is confident that former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak can still contribute ideas, views and experience for the good of the country, following his conditional pardon which sees him serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.

Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the party would also continue to pray for Najib's good health while he serves the remainder of his sentence at home.

"We are grateful to Allah SWT and humbly convey appreciation to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim for his consent in granting a conditional pardon to Najib.

"This is deeply meaningful, not only to Najib's family but to all Malaysians who continue to remember and appreciate his service and contributions as a leader who brought development to the country and prosperity to the people," he said in a statement on Friday.

Earlier, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, consented to grant Najib a conditional pardon to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, subject to him paying a fine of RM50 million.

The matter was announced by the Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU) of the Prime Minister's Department in a statement.

The decision was made at the Federal Territory Pardons Board meeting on Friday.
