KUALA LIPIS – The Sinar Harian Town Hall Rakyat programme with Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail drew an encouraging response, with more than 2,000 people attending its third edition at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee Hall here on Monday.

Wan Rosdy said he was pleased with the response from people of various ethnic backgrounds, adding that the programme provided an opportunity for him to engage directly with the public and explain the state government's policies and development plans.

“The response was fantastic, with more than 2,000 people in attendance.

“Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly. I understand that many more wanted to attend, but the hall's capacity was limited,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after the nearly two-hour programme, which was also attended by Sinar Karangkraf chief executive officer Farah Hussamuddin.

Hosted by Abu Talib Husin, the programme was broadcast live across Sinar Harian's digital platforms.

Organised in collaboration with the Pahang State Strategic Communication Unit (UKS), the event was part of efforts to strengthen engagement between the state government and residents.

The previous editions were held at Karangkraf in Shah Alam on Jan 17, 2025, and in Kuantan on Nov 11, 2025.

Among the issues discussed were rural development, particularly in the Pahang Barat region, the impact of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, the Inisiatif Makmur Pahang (IM Pahang), and the state's success in collecting more than RM1 billion in revenue for five consecutive years.

Other topics included enforcement against encroachment on government land, the welfare of Felda settlers, public housing, the welfare of the Orang Asli community, assistance for Pahang students and environmental sustainability.

Wan Rosdy also responded to questions and heard suggestions from various groups, including students, youths and grassroots leaders.

He said all questions, views and suggestions raised during the programme would be given due consideration, although implementation would depend on the outcome of further studies and the state government's financial position.

“All questions and suggestions submitted by the people will be considered.

“If they can be implemented and the financial situation permits, we will implement them. Everything is for the sake of the people,” he said.

Wan Rosdy said he hoped the programme could continue in other locations to give more residents the opportunity to engage directly with the state government.

“We will hold this programme in other places, but not in the near future. Hopefully, it can continue and be brought to all districts,” he said.

He described the two-hour session as too short, saying there were many more issues he wanted to explain to the public.

“I am very satisfied. Two hours felt like 40 minutes.

“There was much more to elaborate on, but there wasn't enough time. So, we focused on the most important matters,” he said.
