KUALA LIPIS - Curbing revenue leakages, strengthening enforcement and improving administrative efficiency are among the three key strategies used by the Pahang state government to raise revenue collections to more than RM1 billion.

Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said these efforts were also supported by the efficiency of district officers and the state administration in ensuring revenue collection, including payments from landowners and outstanding arrears, was carried out effectively.

He said the establishment of state government-linked companies had also helped generate additional income, with their profits channelled back to the state government.

"The RM1 billion figure has been achieved for five consecutive years, Alhamdulillah. Among the measures we have taken are addressing leakages and revenue losses while strengthening enforcement, administrative efficiency and financial management.

"In terms of leakages and revenue losses, Pahang previously had many unhealthy activities that were actually costing the state government revenue. Some parties were even unhappy with our enforcement measures.

"However, Pahang is a sovereign state with a sovereign Ruler. How can we allow land to be encroached upon? Therefore, we have taken action," he said at the Sinar Harian People's Town Hall programme with Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, also known as Tok Wan, held at Dewan Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah here on Monday.

Wan Rosdy said the state government had also tightened enforcement to curb activities that could lead to revenue losses, including illegal land encroachment, illegal logging and sand theft.

He said these efforts were crucial to protecting the state's natural resources and ensuring government revenue was not compromised.

Wan Rosdy added that the success of these initiatives also depended on cooperation across the state administration, with all parties working together to achieve their shared objectives.

"We are not only a strong team, but we also work together as one family," he said.

Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy said the state government was also focused on returning revenue to the people through the Makmur Pahang Initiative.

He said the initiative received an allocation of RM50 million in both 2024 and 2025, before increasing to RM80 million in 2026, with the allocation for 2027 expected to exceed RM80 million.

He said the state government would continue ensuring that the revenue collected benefited the people through various assistance programmes and initiatives.
