SHAH ALAM – Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin is confident that the ‘Blue Wave’, which began in Negeri Sembilan, will spread to Melaka before expanding nationwide, with Putrajaya as its eventual destination.

He said the movement represented more than a political alliance, describing it as a resurgence of hope aimed at bringing the people's voices to the national level.

Hamzah said the movement would not be confined by state borders but would continue to expand across the country.

“Wawasan Negara, as a bridge to the resurgence of this wave, is confident that the ‘Blue Wave’ will not stop at state borders.

“This wave will carry the people's voices throughout the country, moving from the south to the north, from east to west and eventually reaching Putrajaya,” he said in a Facebook post on Nov 3.

The post was accompanied by several photographs of him attending a meeting with Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders and supporters.

Although Hamzah did not elaborate on the movement, the ‘Blue Wave’ is believed to refer to political cooperation between PN and Barisan Nasional (BN), following an ad hoc electoral understanding between the two coalitions aimed at wresting control of the Negeri Sembilan state government from Pakatan Harapan (PH).

The cooperation has since been put into practice again for the Melaka state election, with both coalitions coordinating their election machinery, voter mobilisation and the management of polling district centres and state constituency operations.

The arrangement also includes seat allocation, with BN contesting 23 of the 28 state seats in Melaka, while PN has been allocated the remaining five.

BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has said his party is prepared to invite PN representatives who win their seats to join the state government's executive council (Exco) if BN succeeds in forming the state government.

The proposed arrangement follows the cooperation model previously practised in Negeri Sembilan.
