A woman and her younger brother escaped the death penalty after the Court of Appeal commuted the death sentence imposed on them to 33 years’ prison each for the murder of the woman’s blind husband about four years ago.

Thirteen male students from a vocational college in Lahad Datu pleaded not guilty at the High Court to the charge of murdering a fellow student.

Police confirmed that the decapitated body found on Dec 31 belongs to Istiqomah.

The Court of Appeal ruled that the case involving the kidnapping of a Palestinian national by 13 individuals, related to obtaining information on mobile phone hacking software, will be heard in the High Court instead of the Sessions Court.
