Australia’s Islamic heritage and multicultural identity were highlighted in Kuala Lumpur through the unveiling of a model of the historic Adelaide City Mosque by the Australian High Commission and the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, symbolising long-standing cultural ties between Australia and Malaysia.

The festival, held in collaboration with the KL Festival, attracted an estimated 3,000 visitors, marking one of the institution’s highest single-day attendance records in more than 30 years.

The gates of the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (Aswara) campus in Kuala Lumpur are set to swing wide this Saturday (May 9) transforming the grounds into a pulsating hub of creativity for ASWARA Artskap 2026.

The public is invited to attend with family and friends to personally experience this unique artistic journey and learn more about Aswara’s role as a leading institution for arts, culture and heritage education in Malaysia.

The Malaysian arts industry is in mourning following the passing of veteran entertainer Jalil Hamid, who died in his sleep at his residence in Taman Alam Megah, Seksyen 28, today. He was 69.
