Evelyn Yang, who told CNN in 2020 that she was assaulted by Hadden in 2012 while seven months pregnant, and another woman, Marissa Hoechstetter, welcomed the settlement in a joint statement on X.

Lawyer Lingswaran Singh, representing the 19-year-old accused, told Ampang Sessions Court Judge Norshila Kamarudin that the application to refer his client for psychiatric assessment was made under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Several video recordings have gone viral on social media, showing a young man being beaten by a group of men in an incident believed to have occurred in Pasir Gudang.

Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Ja'afar confirmed that the police received the report from the woman last Sunday.
