The investigation into the tragic death of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir centres on three key elements, namely bullying, neglect and sexual harassment.

The Coroner's Court here has set Sept 3 to commence inquest proceedings for Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir.

Zara Qairina, 13, was found unconscious near a drain close to her hostel building at the religious school in Papar on July 16. She subsequently died from the injuries the next day.

The principal, senior assistant for student affairs, and all wardens of SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha will be temporarily placed at the Sabah State Education Department until investigation by the police is completed.

The family lawyer confirmed the presence of injuries on Zara Qairina’s body and stressed that the post-mortem process was conducted transparently without external interference.
