THE Hong Kong Tourism Board, alongside the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and the Macao Government Tourism Office, recently converged in Kuala Lumpur to promote the Greater Bay Area as a premier destination for seamless multi-destination travel.
Selected as the host market for this year's annual tourism event, Malaysia was recognised for its rising significance as an outbound travel market.
The initiative brought together local travel trade partners, airlines, media representatives and tourism stakeholders to foster deeper collaboration and encourage Malaysian holidaymakers to embrace a connected journey.
Hong Kong Tourism Board executive director Anthony Lau highlighted that travellers increasingly desire holidays that balance ease of planning with rich and varied experiences.
"Malaysia continues to be an important visitor market and we are delighted to bring this year's Greater Bay Area tourism promotion event here," he said.
"Travellers are looking for holidays that are easy to plan yet rich in experiences and the Greater Bay Area makes that possible through its excellent connectivity and complementary destinations," Lau added.
Positioned as a gateway to adventures in China, Hong Kong offers effortless access to neighbouring destinations within the Greater Bay Area through infrastructure like the High-Speed Rail and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, with many spots reachable within an hour.
Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province level II bureau rank official Huang Xi Zhong emphasised that the region unites cities with distinct identities ranging from innovation and technology to rich history, culture and local cuisine.
"This diversity allows travellers to experience something different at every stop while enjoying the convenience of travelling within one connected region," Zhong said.
Macao Government Tourism Office director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said Macao adds a cultural crossroads of East and West into the mix, featuring prominent accolades such as its Unesco Creative City of Gastronomy designation and the Historic Centre of Macao World Heritage site.
The event featured an immersive culinary showcase celebrating the diverse flavours of the Greater Bay Area.
Bar Leone from Hong Kong, which topped The World's 50 Best Bars list in 2025, served signature drinks, while Chinesology Hong Kong presented contemporary Cantonese delicacies alongside its status as a halal-certified Chinese fine-dining restaurant.
Guests also sampled Macanese treats like Portuguese egg tarts and serradura, alongside Guangdong specialties including sesame balls, ma lai go and prawn rice rolls.
To further facilitate these journeys, the Hong Kong Tourism Board has forged strategic alliances with AirAsia and seven local travel agencies to curate specialised travel packages.
Encompassing nine cities in Guangdong Province alongside the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, the Greater Bay Area offers a vibrant tapestry of cultures and attractions.
Hong Kong continues to bolster its appeal with iconic skylines alongside expanding Muslim-friendly facilities and halal dining options.
Guangdong blends Shenzhen's modern cityscape with Guangzhou's traditional Cantonese heritage, while Macao enriches the collective itinerary with integrated resorts and historical architecture.
Real-life travel perspectives were shared by Malaysian content creators William Seng, Celine Chan, Nana Mohd and Ain Ramli, who illustrated the region's diverse appeal, ranging from couple getaways to accessible Muslim-friendly itineraries.
Through these concerted promotional efforts, the three tourism authorities aim to welcome a growing number of Malaysian visitors eager to experience the connectivity and charm of the Greater Bay Area.
