PETALING JAYA - The decision of Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin to quit Bersatu and join Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) is expected and not surprising, says opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“It is not surprising. If it happened once, it will likely to happen again.

“Let this be a lesson to others. History itself is a reminder,” Anwar said during an exclusive interview with Sinar Karangkraf group today.

Zuraidah earlier revealed that she was joining PBM and would meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as soon as possible to discuss her resignation as Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister.

She had decided to join PBM as she is attracted to its core principles of multiracial engagement, women empowerment, youth empowerment, economic development, education and the advancement of science and technology as elements to make Malaysia a developed country.

Zuraida was formerly a PKR leader and in August 2020, she had joined Bersatu with with former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and eight other members.

A month after joining, both Azmin and Zuraida were appointed as Bersatu's supreme leadership council members.
