SHAH ALAM- Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has told top two Umno leaders to discuss with the prime minister "to help him make the right choice" and to take the "right position" to hold the 15th General Elections (GE15).

"This is not about Zahid Hamidi or Najib or Ismail Sabri Yaakob, it is about BN and the country's future.

"If we have been given the responsibility and power, we need to do it right. I am not thinking about yourself. If God wills, BN will remain in power in the country," he said this at the Barisan Nasional Convention today at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

Umno has been winning state polls in Melaka, Johor and Sabah indicating that the rakyat are now backing BN to take over Putrajaya.

He further said: "When is the election (GE15)? I don’t know. But I want to share for the first time ... I want to admit ... We should have had GE14 after the (2017) SEA Games."

“If we did, maybe we would have won big. But because of pressure from various parties, we delayed it," he said referring to GE14 which was held in May 2018.

He further spoke on then highlighted over the opposition “in a state of disarray”, pointing PKR, Pejuang, Bersatu, PAS and DAP.

"The opposition today is messy. PKR only managed to garner 12 per cent of voters (during recent party elections). Pejuang has been rejected. Bersatu is only left with two seats in Johor.

"Pas is declining. DAP is rejected so that means opposition is in disarray today, although we have the inflation problem, BN is still standing strong despite the challenges but we are still united," he added.
