SHAH ALAM - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced a month of free rides on all public transport operated by RapidKL effective today, following the launch of the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase One.

“In conjunction with the official opening of the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase One, I am pleased to announce the free provision of services for all public transport under the operation of RapidKL namely MRT, LRT, BRT, Monorail and RapidKL buses for a month starting today.

"I hope members of the Malaysian Family will take this advantage to try using public transport by parking their cars at the Park N Ride facility and take a ride on the MRT,” Ismail Sabri said in his speech at the launch of the phase one of the Putrajaya Line today.

The MRT Putrajaya Line, he said, was expected to become the catalyst for improving connections between residents and communities, especially those living close to the line as it would be easier for people to commute to work, socialise and access public facilities.

He also added that the Putrajaya Line MRT developed in two phases providing services to approximately two million residents from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya.

The MRT Putrajaya Line Phase One enable passengers to travel from Kwasa Damansara to Kampung Batu routes.

The Phase Two route, which is almost fully completed would offer routes from Kampung Batu to Putrajaya.

It would pass through key areas of Kuala Lumpur City Centre with subway stations such as Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur Hospital, Ampang Park, Persiaran KLCC and Tun Razak Exchange (TRX).

He said that this is among the main agendas implemented by the government to restore and stabilise the economy as well as ensuring the well-being of the people in the country for them to enjoy better access to services and seamless connectivity as planned in 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
