SHAH ALAM - Muslim World League secretary general His Excellency Sheikh Dr Mohammad Abdul Karim Al-Issa’s arrival at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang, this evening was welcomed by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Idris Haji Ahmad.

Islamic Development Department Malaysia (Jakim) director-general Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff said the Sheikh was here to attend the Southeast Asian Ulama Conference 2022 to be held on June 30 in Subang Jaya.

"H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammad will share ideas and views in further strengthening harmony and peace in the region as well as further enhancing the spirit of Islamic tolerance in the diversity of Malaysian families,” she said.

She said the objective of the conference was to emphasize the value of moderation, strengthening the value of friendship and the value of cooperation among the ummah as well as spreading awareness on the concept of unity, justice and harmony between Muslim leaders and society as a whole.

The conference, which plays host to representatives from 20 countries in Southeast Asia, is organised by Jakim and the Muslim World League.

Dr Mohammad is well known as a prominent voice on moderate Islam who is dedicated to spreading knowledge of the actual message of the faith, which emphasises empathy, understanding, and cooperation between all people.

Under his reign, the Muslim World League has expanded representation of various sects of Islam within the Muslim World League Supreme Council and other subsidiary bodies to ensure the inclusion of all Muslim communities around the world.
