SERDANG - The government is ready to dissolve Parliament if any party withdraws support from the current government, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said any party has the right to decide its own decision which is part of democracy.

"It is up to anyone to make any decision (because) any party can make its own decision but we have to face the consequences (of) that if we withdraw support (and) if the government falls, then the election must be held after that.

"So if everyone is ready for elections, then there is no option for us to hold elections. The government is ready in any situation," he said.

He said this at the 2022 Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-Tourism Exhibition (Maha 2022) held at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang, today.

Ismail Sabri said elections will be held when the "right time" comes.

"Elections will still be held, only the date is yet to be determined but if there is action to withdraw support before the date is determined, we will take action whether to hold elections or not, that will be decided after that.

"However, there is no official statement issued by the party (which is alleged to withdraw support)," he said.

Two days ago The Star quoting sources had said that Bersatu was planning to pull support from the government if the terms in the agreement between Ismail Sabri and Bersatu to appoint a deputy prime minister was not met.

However, Bersatu leaders denied the report.

Therefore, Ismail Sabri said the statement issued could be personal, rather than the party's position. "That may be a personal view. So I cannot take action, it must be based on the party's official statement," he said.
