SHAH ALAM - Voters are expected to vote agian after the anti-hopping laws were passed as they will feel their elected representative will not be able to hop to another party for personal gain, said DAP MP RSN Rayer.

The Jelutong MP added the infamous Sheraton Move had left many disillusioned after the sudden collapse of elected Pakatan Harapan government in 2020.

“Voters were disillusioned. In Malacca and Johor state elections people were disappointed and the common talk was 'no need to vote because they will jump party later on'.

“However, I just saw the federal court has ruled the anti hopping enactment which Penang has passed, as valid and I believe people will come back to give us their support,” he said during Sinar Daily’s Politically Frank shoot.

On July 28, 209 MPs out of 220 MPs voting for the bill, with more than a two-thirds majority.

Rayer was also asked on major issues, including traffic in Penang. He said the state government needs assistance from the federal government to solve the problem.

“Traffic congestion is a major issue in Penang and we need a proper traffic plan to ease this.

“We also need MRT and LRT services as well as the upgrade for Penang airports, even the ferry services are not as good as before,” he said.

On the coming 15th general elections, he said DAP is ready to wrestle Gerakan out of Penang.

DAP won Penang in 2008 elections, causing a massice defeat to ruling Gerakan who is now part of the Perikatan Nasional coalition.
