SHAH ALAM - Wanita Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad says new and automatic voters are a challenge in the attitude study report by the women’s wing.

She said the report of voters’ attitude study that was assigned to Wanita BN machinery was now in the final stages of being completed and submitted to the top management before the end of the year.

“The task is not easy. It is not just the attitude of women but the whole public comprised of various age segments.

“As we prepare the report, many challenges are faced especially when it involves new voters.

“With the automatic voter registration now, there will always be an increase in voters in all constituencies,” she told Sinar Harian on Monday.

She explained that during a series of trips with Umno Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, the BN Election Director, they monitored and audited every report from the state to localities levels.

“Alhamdulillah, we received positive responses so far,” she said.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, during the speech at the Bicara Hati Perdana Menteri slot for the Wanita BN Convention in the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) on Sunday informed that the Parliament would be dissolved to give way for the 15th General Elections (GE15) if the results of the study revealed that BN could possibly win.

The Umno Vice President said to face GE15, there had to be a guarantee that BN could win.

“To know if there is a potential of winning, it will be based on the attitude study done by Wanita BN,” he said.

Wanita BN Deputy Chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim said the study had been conducted for a while and was expected to be done by this year.

Meanwhile, Universiti Sains Malaya Political analyst Professor Dr Sivamurugan Pandian said among the factors that could set the tendency whether BN could record a win or not were the candidates chosen, the party machinery and the issues brought would be a matter that would be faced by the parties in GE15.

“The attitude study that was done as an attempt to give comfort for specific leaders and did not reflect the real image of the elections.

“For example, in GE14 there were many done with some showing BN a two-third victory but the sentiments were not shown.

“To me, the attitude study could be questioned and only could be made as a guide for BN’s victory,” he said.
