MELAKA - The Melaka Hospital’s electricity supply system has been upgraded at a cost of RM23.88 million enabling the 92-year old hospital to run on a more stable power supply, said State Health director Datuk Dr Rusdi Abdul Rahman.

He said the completion of the Health Ministry project would allow the hospital to provide more services for surgery including neurosurgery.

"The Melaka Hospital is equipped with an operation theatre and an intensive care unit (ICU) for procedures like neurosurgery and with the new electricity supply system, surgeries can now be done more efficiently and without interruption.

"Before this, patients had to be referred to the Seremban Hospital or Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for neurosurgery treatment but now the procedure can be carried out here without any constraints,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after attending the handing over of the Melaka Hospital Electricity Supply System Upgrading Project (Design and Build) which was officiated by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali today.
