Hamid Bador best candidate to stand against Tok Mat, says GTA

Tan Sri Hamid Bador, 64 was the country's IGP from May 2019 to May 2021
SEREMBAN – Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) is confident of breaking Umno's stronghold in the Rembau Parliamentary seat if former top cop Tan Sri Hamid Bador agrees to represent the coalition in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Deputy Chairman of the Negeri Sembilan GTA Mohamad Jani Ismail said although Hamid is not a member of Pejuang, GTA is willing to make room for all including certain individuals with big names.
"For me at the moment he is (Hamid) the best candidate for GTA in the Rembau Parliament seat. He's originally from Rembau after all.
"We have to put a big name like him especially as Umno Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan is rumored to be competing there this time," he told Sinar Harian.
"Hamid is known to be brave and dares to speak the truth and is firm as shown during his service as the Inspector General of Police," he said.
Jani added that such leadership qualities are expected by the people.
"If we're going to fix the country, we need to put people with such characters.
However, he said they are yet to discuss with Hamid.
"I think the only one who can persuade him (Hamid) is the Chairman of Pejuang Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad," he said.
Meanwhile, Sinar Harian's attempts to contact Hamid to get his statement have not been successful.
Hamid, 64 was the country's IGP from May 2019 to May 2021. In Aug 2015, Hamid was removed from his post as deputy director (I) of the Special Branch department and transferred to the Prime Minister's Department having served in the police for 37 years.
However, he refused to clock in at the Prime Minister's Department and suggested that it was part of a cover-up into the investigations of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal.
