Tok Mat can win big in Rembau – Khairy

SEREMBAN - Incumbent Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar says he believes that Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan could win big in the constituency in the 15th General Election (GE15).

The video of Khairy’s speech was shared on his Instagram account which was recorded while he attended the Rembau Umno Division delegates meeting at a hotel here on Sunday.

Through the video, Khairy is seen shaking hands with Mohamad or Tok Mat with the caption “Handing over Rembau Parliament to @mohamadhjhasan after three rewarding terms as MP".

"InsyaAllah Tok Mat will win big and continue to take care of Rembau excellently,” he wrote.

However, the media was not allowed into the hall to watch the conference as it took place behind closed doors.

According to a source, it was understood that Khairy has expressed his openness in handing over the Rembau Parliamentary seat to Mohamad in his speech at the conference.

In fact, the source said Khairy also said he would maintain his membership in Rembau and would continue to be loyal to Umno.

"Khairy’s speech moved the delegates to tears and thankfully the issue of the Rembau seats was finally resolved properly.

"Many were overwhelmed and cried. I think it's the first time Khairy has officially stated it to all of us.

"For a long time, he has only made such statement to the media. He is a good young leader," the source said.
