PETALING JAYA - Seat distribution negotiations between the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) for the 15th General Election (GE15) is now 70 per cent completed.

Muda deputy president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz said the party had asked PH to give them at least 15 seats, with none of the seats involving the incumbents.

"We have asked for less than 15 seats (to be contested) and 70 per cent of it, I can say, has been completed.

"What is important is that we do not directly ask for the seat that is being held by PH at the moment.

"The rumours of us asking to contest in the incumbent seats are not true," she told reporters when met after a meeting with the PH Negotiation Committee at the PKR's Headquarters here, today.

Commenting further, she said the remaining 30 per cent revolves around the overlapping seats and logo, which would be completed in their upcoming meetings.

“We would like to solve the overlapping issues as soon as possible,” she said.

Commenting on the same issue, Amanah communications director Khalid Samad said the discussion was held to discuss electoral cooperation with Muda.

Asked about the party’s main concern, he said it would be the fact that there were seats that the party was confident in winning but would have to go against other good candidates.

“The main concern would be that there are seats that we feel we can win and we have good candidates for it and at the same time we appreciate the fact that Muda is also a party that has good candidates,” he said.

He added that there were a few more seats that were still in negotiation.

“We may not have been given the mandate to make a decision and most probably be raised in the presidential council,” he said.

Khalid said in terms of the use of the logo during the election, he said it had been generally agreed that Amanah would use PH’s logo to make it easier for the voters.
