BEAUFORT - Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) does not aspire to be the Prime Minister like any other party, says Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Instead, the GRS chairman said he would continue to support BN including Kimanis Parliamentary candidate Datuk Mohamad Alamin to face the 15th General Election (GE15) in ensuring success on Nov 19.

“Certainly, when the GRS-BN candidate in Kimanis wins in GE15, he (Datuk Mohamad) will definitely be appointed as a deputy minister or a minister.

"A leader like this should be the people’s choice rather than those who just talk and sow promises. GRS will continue to support BN. We (GRS) do not aspire to be Prime Minister like any other party.

"Recently, Datuk Azis Jaman (Warisan candidate in Sepanggar) questioned why it was only the post of DPM (Deputy Prime Minister) and not PM (Prime Minister). How can they be PM, when they lose in Sabah.

"Two years as a state government, there is no direction but defamation here and there," he said at the Leaders’ Council Ceremony with the people at the Sri Wawasan Hall in Kampung Pimping, Membakut here on Thursday night.

Also present were Sabah BN chairman Datuk Seri Moktar Radin who is also Sabah Deputy Chief Minister, as well as Mohamad Alamin.

He also said a government that does not get the people's mandate will not last as long as Parti Warisan (Warisan).

"After about two years in power, the state election (PRN) was held because Shafie Apdal (Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie) had to dissolve the government due to the loss of support.

"This is the difference between the party that gets the mandate after the people's representatives jump (parties) and the party that gets the people's mandate like GRS-BN.

"The Warisan administration existed not because of the mandate of the people but there are representatives of the people especially the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) who jumped to Warisan. The situation had caused the fall of the BN government.

"God is fair, a government that doesn't get a mandate, can't afford to last long," he said.

Hajiji said he rarely talked about politics to the media, but during the GE season, many things needed to be shared with the people, especially with regards to the achievements of the state government.

"I have to talk about what has been done, ongoing and what will be done by the state government as well as our achievements during the two years of ruling until we were able to get a state revenue collection of RM5.449 billion, last year.

"A success that has never been achieved before. Even though we faced the Covid-19 pandemic at the beginning of the administration, it did not prevent the GRS-BN government from moving forward and setting up a strategy to revive the economy.

"We set up the government. Thus, this year we are expected to collect even more than RM6 billion," he said.
