SHAH ALAM - Full weekday operations of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Kelana Jaya Line is expected to start very soon.

Caretaker Transport Minister Datuk Wee Ka Siong said based on the indications, the signalling and communications within the Kelana Jaya Line system were operating well.

"We are well on the way to full weekday operations with 38-40 trains on the Kelana Jaya Line very soon," Wee said in a statement on Facebook, today.

He said earlier this morning, he was briefed by Rapid Rail about the continuous tests of the automatic train control (ATC) system from 11pm, last night until 5am, this morning.

The tests monitored by the Rail Planning and Enforcement Division of APAD, he said were aimed at ensuring the stability and safety of the system prior to proceeding to full operations.

“The teams ran 24 sets of trains throughout the entire Putra Heights - Gombak line to really test it last night.

"Today is to test all 38 train sets on the line with a five-minute headway between each train set," he said.

The Ayer Hitam parliamentary seat incumbent also said he would be splitting his time between his constituency and Kuala Lumpur, to continue monitoring the situation.

"Hopefully, I am able to make another good announcement tomorrow," he added.

On Nov 9, Rapid KL announced that 16 LRT stations along the Kelana Jaya Line will be suspended for seven days until Nov 15 to allow repair works following instability in the system.
