KUALA SELANGOR - The police have opened an investigation paper on the display of a marked postal ballot paper showing support to a candidate uploaded on Facebook on Monday.

Kuala Selangor district police chief Superintendent Ramli Kasa said the report was made by a public member at 5pm.

He said the complainant came forward claiming to have seen a post uploaded on Facebook on a marked postal ballot paper.

"The postal ballot paper that was shared may affect or to some extent disrupt the course of the 15th General Election (GE15)," he said.

Ramli said the police will be discussing with the Election Commission (EC) for further investigation.

"The case will be investigated under Section 4(A)(1) of the Election Offences Act 1954 and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998," he said.

He said police would not hesitate to take action against those who take pictures of their postal ballot paper and spread it on social media.

"The public should abide by the law and regulations set by the EC," he said.
