SHAH ALAM - Former Lembah Pantai Umno division chief Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said he is ready to run for a post in Lembah Pantai for the next Umno Election.

This, he said, if the values within the party did not change.

However, he said he needed to have done something in the constituency to have a voice at the higher level of the party’s leadership.

“I will run for the post if the values don't change because I have to do something in Lembah Pantai to have a voice at the higher level.

“Not necessarily (running for) the Umno Supreme Working Council (post) but at least in the voting of the party election,” he said as a panelist on Sinar Daily’s Fireside Chat live programme on Thursday (Nov 17).

The former federal territories minister added that the division of the party held the responsibility of electing the leaders in the future.

“When it comes to voting the leaders that are going to come in the future, it's the division that makes the voting,” he added.

Nong Chik had contested for the Lembah Pantai seat twice in 2013 and 2018 but was defeated by Nurul Izzah Anwar and Fahmi Fadzil in the respective years.
