SOOK - A total of 40 voters are forced to take the fire truck to the polling centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Rancangan Belia Tiolon, here, due to waist-deep floods at the main road to the centre, here.

Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) deputy director Farhan Sufyan Borhan said a total of 11 personnel from the Sook and Tenom Fire stations were involved in the operations to send voters affected to the polling centre.

"Reports show that the main road towards the SK Rancangan Belia Tiolon polling centre was flooded waist-deep caused by heavy rains earlier today.

"A team of firemen were dispatched to aid and bring the 40 voters from the Rancangan Belia junction to be sent to the polling centre located six kilometres away using the fire truck to enable them to fulfill their responsibility," he told Sinar Harian on Saturday.

He said the efforts to transport voters were still ongoing.

"It is a gloomy weather and the water level has decreased. However, we were worried due to the Malaysia Meteorological Department's (MetMalaysia) predictions that another storm would hit in the evening.

"At the time, the team of firemen had used two trucks and another Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) truck," he said.
