KUALA LUMPUR - Dressed in white, a bride walked down the aisle towards the polling station to perform her voting duties in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Stealing the spotlight, financial analyst Lee Choy Yoong, 30, put her wedding reception on hold today so she could vote at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Muda, Pandan.

Her husband Jackie Har, also 30, a police officer in Bukit Aman, accompanied Lee. He was also dressed in his wedding outfit, a light brown hue suit.

Lee said she decided to come at noon in fear of rain in the evening.

She said she decided to still show up despite having her wedding reception today as she did not want to miss the historic opportunity to fulfil her responsibilities as a Malaysian.

"Fortunately, the both sides of our family supported our decision even though my husband had already voted early on Nov 15 because he was a security officer," she said as in a media report.

Meanwhile, Lee admitted that she felt upset that her wedding was overshadowed by the election season.

"I was a little upset but at the same time excited because our special day happened to collide with polling day.

"Despite our busy schedule, we still don't miss the opportunity to vote," she said.

Lee said she got up as early as 5.30am to get ready and dressed.

"This is because we had to rush to the tea party of my husband’s family and arrive at the polling centre around 12.30pm.

"After voting, we had to rush to the tea party and attend the reception tonight," she said, adding that she was accompanied by 10 friends.

Meanwhile, Jackie said he was proud to be able to accompany his wife to cast her ballots on their special day despite voting early on Nov 15.
