SHAH ALAM - The Quran should be understood and cannot be misused, says Kumpulan Karangkraf Chairman, Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub.

He had commented based on the extremism trend circulated on social media; in which supporters of certain political parties misused the Quran and religious terms.

“I think this is a negative trend for them to misinterpret the Quran for certain intentions.

“The Quran should be interpreted keenly and we need to see the meaning as a whole and cannot use for political purposes,” he said.

He spoke to the media after giving his speech at the Pertemuan Khas Menghadapi Krisis Ekstremisme di Media Sosial (Tik Tok), Level 1, Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas, Karangkraf, here.

Meanwhile, Akademi Jiwa Hamba chief executive officer Said Mohd Hakim Mohd Nor said the extremism portrayed in social media seems plotted, based on the equality of the context and algorithm.

Said said the text and audio used for the video also had similarity as if someone was behind the movement.

“If extremism is not prevented it could spread and it seems to have an algorithm and equality in terms of the context as if someone created the issue.

“We don’t know who is behind it and we need to prevent this from happening.

“Of course, we can apprehend one or two, but this is not one or two people ‘thing’,” he said.

Said also said this was the reason for the programme to be held which was to bring back the real meaning of jihad, munafik and other religious terms.

Almost 30 TikTok content creators attended the seminar and they aimed to reach 1,000 attendees in the near future that could carry the content of the Quran through the seminar.
