SHAH ALAM - Anti corruption movement, Rasuah Busters welcomes the suggestion made recently by the Conference of Rulers on Judicial appointments.

On Wesnesday, the Malay Rulers had suggested that appointment of the five Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) members should not be under the prime minister.

The Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir said it should be under several other institutions such as the Malaysian Bar Council, the Sabah Law Society, the Sarawak Bar Association and the Parliamentary Select Committee.

Rasuah Busters team leader Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub said it was to make sure the commission was non-partisan or biased to any party.

“In ensuring a free judicial institution, the appointment process should start from a transparent appointment, integrity and based on the legal principles enshrined in the law and constitution.

“Discussion between the members of the judicial body should be taken into account to make sure the transformation is fully achieved,” he said.

Hussamuddin added that the evaluation of judges and any decision made by the judiciary were also crucial as it could influence the perspective of the community.

Hussamuddin, who is also the Karangkraf Group founder, said international investment confidence could also be affected by the judiciary system based on a transparent and credible appointment.
