PONTIAN - Umno confirmed that its Ketereh Division Chief, Tan Sri Annuar Musa was among the three party leaders who were sacked at the Umno Supreme Council meeting last night.

Besides Annuar, the other two who were sacked are the Arau women chief, Datuk Seri Shamsiah Yasin, who is also the wife of the former Umno division chief, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kasim and Maran women chief, Datin Seri Fatimah Kassim.

Its secretary general, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the dismissal was made in accordance with Clause 10.6 of the Umno Constitution.

"Umno has the right to revoke the membership of its members, if they are found to be in violation of Clause 20.9 of the Umno Constitution as well as matters regarding members' code of ethics.

"The dismissal of Annuar, Shamsiah and Fatimah is effective immediately. The official letter of membership stripping will be sent today," he said at a press conference after attending the Khatan Perdana Council at the Kampung Jawa Ulu Mosque, here on Friday.

Yesterday, the supreme council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi announced the sacking to the media at Menara Dato Onn following the party's supreme council meeting.

Mohd Puad, however, did not name names of the three leaders and merely explained that the dismissal was due to the trio who openly mocked the party and campaigned for other parties during the 15th General Election (GE15).

Previously, former Arau and Maran MPs from Umno, Shahidan Kassim and Ismail Abd Muttalib, were also dropped from Barisan Nasional as candidates for GE15.
