KOTA KINABALU - Pertubuhan Prihatin Rakyat Sabah (PPRS) is prepared to field 73 state assembly Independent candidates to contest in the upcoming state election.

Its president Datuk Mohd Fadli Fathullah said the non-governmental organisation (NGO) had observed the problems faced by the people in all the Sabah state assembly areas including in the rural areas.

He said the NGO received many reports on problems faced by the people for too long since 10 to 30 years ago and no action has been taken by certain parties, including the people's representatives who were given the mandate to look after the people in the respective areas.

"PPRS NGO felt the need to set up a committee and present the Independant candidates who will contest in each state assembly in which we formed a coalition of 1,252 NGOs with us," he told Sinar Harian on Wednesday.

He said through the support from the coalition of NGOs, it would show that the people wanted a leader that possessed good qualities in governing each of their areas.

"PPRS NGO are also constantly monitoring and providing guidance services for the candidates that we will field to help the problems faced by the people in the state.

"For every candidate who contests (as Independant candidates) and wins a seat, we will provide 10 NGOs in each state assembly to monitor it at all times for the people to channel information.

"Quick action will be taken in an effort solve the problems in each Sabah state assembly," he said.
