KOTA BHARU – A total of 86 Kelantan police officers and members are involved in a total of 45 misconduct cases recorded from January to December this year.

Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said out of the cases, some were under investigation while actions had been taken for other cases.

He said among the misconducts committed were drugs, crimes, close proximity, abandonment of duties and other misconducts.

"Even though they were police officers and personnel, we will continue to investigate and take action," he told reporters after the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) monthly meeting today.

He said socialisation was one of the factors for the personnel being caught up in the misconduct.

He advised all personnel and staff to prepare early to face the new year with a better attitude.

"Let's lessen the weaknesses and place ourselves among those who are great," he said.

Meanwhile, Zaki said four police stations in the state including in Tanah Merah, Pasir Mas and Tumpat were affected by floods.

The police stations were Kuala Jambu Police Station, Simpangan Police Station, Rantau Panjang Police Station and Bakong Police Station.

Aside from that, eight General Operations Force (GOF) cabins and three Army cabins sustained damages from the floods.

"I have ordered for research to be done in estimating the costs for the repair process," he said.

However, he said officers and personnel should prepare for the third wave of floods.

He said they were prepared for heavy rains on Jan 2, and would also monitor flood situations in the neighbouring country, mainly Hadyai and Golok.
