KUALA LUMPUR - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will officially submit a request for a feeze order on their bank accounts to be lifted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

Sinar on Wednesday reported Bersatu's accounts were frozen after the party released its account statement publicly and this was confirmed by MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

He said the party's accounts were frozen two weeks ago to facilitate the investigation according to the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act (AMLA).

The freeze was initially linked to the MACC's investigations of government stimulus funds amounting to RM92.5 billion during the Covid-19 pandemic, in which various irregularities had been alleged.
