Educate the public on investment scam tactics - Former IGP
SHAH ALAM - It is crucial for the relevant authorities to educate the public on investment scam tactics, said Malaysia Community Crime Care (MCCC) President, Tan Sri Musa Hassan.
"This is so that the public are aware of all these tactics and will be more careful." he told reporters at a press conference here.
Musa who is also the former inspector-general of police, also urged the police to conduct thorough investigations of these scams as it involves millions of ringgit.
“I have received many complaints from the public regarding the scams where police reports have been made but no investigations were initiated.
“That’s why we want to meet with the Commercial Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU) here to urge them to give their full attention to these cases. so that the assumptions that these scammers are being protected can be erased," he said.
It was reported recently that more than 10,000 victims were duped by an investment scam called "E-Ganjaran" which had involved millions or ringgit.
More than 10,000 victims were involved and MHO has taken the initiative to hand over 200 police reports to the CCIU unit at Menara KPJ, here, today.
Malaysia International Humanitarian Organisation (MHO) Secretary General, Datuk Hishamuddin Hashim who also attended the press conference shared that they had brought the scammed victims and evidences to CCIU.
"This is to create a coordination between the non-government organisation (NGO) and police to help the victims get justice.
"So today, we're here to humbly request the CCIU to help these victims," he said.
