SHAH ALAM - Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P Ramasamy to file a law suit against two news portal for twisting his statement.

Last week, Ramasamany came under attack for urging Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to reform the public sector and was qouted as saying that it is currently dominated by Malays due to policies implemented by former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Ramasamy said both portals have reported that he asked for ‘the dominance of the Malays in the public service to be broken’.

"After the news reports were published, I was attacked by some political figures.

"My original article was my comment on the views of Sarawak Premier Abang Johari and G25 Member Datuk Noor Faridah on public service reform.

"However, the statement became an issue as it was misquoted by the two news portals concerned. I see all the comments against me were based on the news report and not my statement," he said.

He further added that he respected the principles of freedom of speech and media freedom, but said that the media should also be responsible in their reporting.

"Twisting my statement to give it a racist tone is irresponsible. I have already instructed my lawyer to initiate legal action against the two media portals," he stressed.
