SHAH ALAM - A group of students who were caught on video damaging school property has been called for counseling to understand their motives of their action, says Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.

She has also urged the public to stop spreading the clip to safeguard the students identity and ensure effective counselling process.

"We have finished the investigation process involving their parents and had implemented intervention process.

"We have also arranged counselling for students and will look at achieving desired results. We will look at what caused them to act this way," she was quoted in Malay Mail.

Fadhlina was referring to a group of students found vandalising school equipment to celebrate the end of school term.

"I cannot reveal their identities due to integrity, we need to protect the faces of the students and the school to make sure they can receive continuous counselling.

"We are worried that if their faces are revealed, we won’t be able to hold the counselling process effectively," she said.

The minister also urged the public not to lose hope on this group of students, adding that there could be serious issues that needs to be addressed.

"I understand that many are enraged by looking at what had happened but I think they should be given a chance and take on continuous counselling.
