KUALA LUMPUR - Prisoners, too, deserve a second chance, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who announced skill-building programmes for inmates.

To address the importance of reintegration into society, prisoners will receive training while incarcerated through the "Skills for Inmates" program, he added.

Anwar also urged employers to provide job opportunities for prisoners, including ex-inmates of Henry Gurney School and the Welfare Department (JKM).

"Employers are also encouraged to employ prisoners, which will allow them to be eligible for additional tax deductions," he added.

Moving on, Anwar also announced an allocation of RM10 million for Prison Agro Programme.

"The Prison Agro Programme, designed for inmates who are involved in agricultural activities on 70 hectares of prison land will continue to be empowered with RM10 million ," he added.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, unveiled the revised Budget 2023 in parliament today.
