SHAH ALAM - The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) in collaboration with the Women, Family, and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) announces i-Sayang as part of its efforts to improve the livelihood of the rakyat.

The i-Sayang, which was officially launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today, is a facility to enable husbands to voluntarily transfer two per cent of their EPF monthly contributions to their wives accounts for their future income wellbeing.

EPF Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the i-Sayang facility is part of EPF's efforts to further extend the social protection net to family institutions and motivate more Malaysians, who are not covered by any official social protection scheme, to save for their retirement future "By enabling husbands to voluntarily contribute two per cent of their EPF monthly contribution, they would provide the opportunity for their wives to have long-term savings in addition to gaining access to the quality social security and income security currently enjoyed by EPF members," he added.

The launching ceremony was also attended by the KPWKM minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri and EPF chairman Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir at the International Women’s Day 2023 celebration held at Dewan Perdana Felda, Kuala Lumpur.

Approximately 2.4 million housewives in Malaysia are unemployed or out of the labour market, and thus are not covered by any form of social protection, making them more vulnerable to adversity or financial shocks.

The i-Sayang effort is consistent with the government's commitment to empowering rights and protecting women's welfare, as well as applying family values consistent with the Malaysia Madani concept, which is founded on the characteristics of inclusion, togetherness, and gratitude.

EPF i-Akaun (Member), EPF's Self-Service Terminal (SST), or any EPF counter countrywide can be used to apply for i-Sayang.

Further information on i-Sayang can be obtained from EPF website at www.kwsp.gov.my, or call the EPF Contact Management Centre at 03-8922 6000.
