'The PM interfering is the public's perception' - Tuan Ibrahim

KUALA LUMPUR - Claims of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim being seen as interfering in court cases involving political figures is only the public's perception.

Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the perception will change if the government, especially the Tambun MP was fair towards charges for cases of both government and opposition leaders.

"What's important is not just the reality but the public's perception when the charges are targeted towards the opposition and the issues involving the government were raised in Parliament.

"The littoral combat ship (LCS) development issue andthe cases that are still in court are still being questioned.

"I don't want to argue but that perception can't be avoided unless the government is fair to all," he said during the press conference at the Parliament building on Tuesday.

He said so when asked to comment on Anwar's statement in Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday urging those in the public to show proof that he had interfered in court charges of political figures.

The Kubang Kerian MP said the public will judge the prime minister through different sentiments if the perception is changed.

Meanwhile Tuan Ibrahim after recently returning from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) humanitarian mission in Turkey and stated victims of the earthquake still required help especially for shelter.

He said the temporary homes made from containers were seen as an alternative as their homes were destroyed by the disaster.

"A container home is estimated to cost RM30,000 and we aim to expand the donations to RM3 million for Eid," he said.
